Discovery and Wellness Center
About Us | Our Mission
The Discovery and Wellness Center for Children is a pediatric research center housed within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at CWRU Department of Psychiatry in Cleveland, Ohio.
University Hospitals Department of Psychiatry Research Division’s mission is to compassionately conduct clinically meaningful research that will better the lives of children and adults suffering from psychiatric illnesses.
Our research is patient-centered. This means we have designed our research studies to improve the lives of people who choose to participate in them. Our research team is committed to serving patients by providing greater medical knowledge to our community through fostering a better understanding of various psychiatric conditions and by focusing on assessment procedures, preventative interventions and therapeutic innovations.
We are currently offering several research based treatment programs for children and adults who suffer from depression, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). All of these programs are offered at no cost.
Eligibility varies for each program. A thorough intake process is conducted to determine eligibility. If the patient is eligible, the treatment program may include a psychiatric evaluation, laboratory tests, study medication and close follow up from a psychiatrist. Participants may be seen weekly or monthly depending on protocol timelines. If the patient is ineligible, they will be directed to clinical care.
